How Sponsored Suggestions Work

A sponsored suggestion starts with publisher intent. The AI product decides that the current user workflow contains a relevant commercial decision point, then sends Genesis a request with context, placement controls, and safe non-PII signals.

The core flow is:

  • The publisher sends a request with the user task, intent categories, locale, placement ID, and desired offer count.
  • Genesis filters offers by category, approval status, brand safety, locale, and publisher controls.
  • The auction ranks eligible offers by normalized value, relevance, trust, and quality.
  • Genesis returns a labeled placement with title, brand, CTA, destination, disclosure, and tracking URLs.
  • The publisher renders the suggestion and records impressions, clicks, and conversions when applicable.

The ad call should run beside the model call. If Genesis is unavailable, slow, or has no relevant demand, the product should return the normal AI response without a sponsored suggestion.

That fallback behavior is a product requirement, not a nice-to-have. Trust is preserved when monetization is additive and explicitly controlled.
